This Privacy Policy explains how KoppyChats collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information in connection with the KoppyChats website, Chrome browser extension, subscription system, Stripe payment flow, support communications, download pages, and related services (collectively, the "Service")
Plain-English summary: KoppyChats is designed to be local-first. The browser extension helps you save, organize, and export ChatGPT conversations from your own browser. Your saved conversations and exported files stay on your device unless you choose to share, upload, send, or publish them somewhere else.
We use limited server-side information to operate subscription, process purchases through Stripe, send account or support emails through Resend, operate our website and backend on Hostinger, maintain security, prevent abuse, respond to support requests, and understand basic product adoption. The extension is intended to use locally bundled interface assets, such as icons, styles, and fonts, rather than contacting third-party CDNs. We do not sell saved chat content or use saved chat content in any way.
1. Who we are
The Service is operated by KoppyChats. At launch, KoppyChats uses email-based contact rather than publishing a business mailing address. YPrivacy questions and requests may be sent to privacy@koppychats.com.
2. Scope of this policy
This policy applies to the KoppyChats public website, Chrome extension, subscription system, license verification endpoints, owner/admin backend, download tracking, Stripe-related purchase records, Resend email communications, support messages, operational telemetry, and security logs.
This policy does not apply to third-party websites, products, or services that KoppyChats does not control, including OpenAI, ChatGPT, the Chrome Web Store, Stripe, Resend, Hostinger, Google, or any other third-party platform. Those services may process information under their own privacy policies and terms.
3. What the extension accesses
On supported ChatGPT pages, such as https://chatgpt.com/c/********-****-****-****-************, the extension may read the visible page content and page structure in your browser so it can perform user-requested actions such as saving a conversation to your local library, exporting a conversation, creating a downloadable file, creating a print-friendly file, or supporting right-click/context-menu actions.
The extension is not designed to upload saved chat content or exported conversation bodies to KoppyChats licensing servers.
The Chrome extension may request permissions such as:
- storage: to store your local library, preferences, usage counters, install identifier, and subscription/license state.
- unlimitedStorage: to support larger local libraries and exports stored on your device.
- downloads: to create and save files you request.
- offscreen: to support background/offscreen export and download processing required by Chrome extension behavior.
- contextMenus: to provide right-click and extension-menu actions.
- activeTab: to interact with the active tab when you choose to use the extension.
- Host access/content scripts on supported pages: to read supported ChatGPT pages for user-facing save/export features, to communicate with KoppyChats licensing pages, and to handle media resources that may appear in exported conversations.
At launch, the extension may request access to supported ChatGPT/OpenAI pages, KoppyChats website pages, and OpenAI-related media domains used by ChatGPT conversation content. This access supports saving, exporting, subscription management, and media handling; it is not intended for general browsing surveillance.
The production extension is intended to operate with locally bundled interface assets where practical. Icons, styles, fonts, and interface files packaged with the extension are loaded from the extension itself rather than from third-party content delivery networks.
4. Information we collect

5. What we store locally
KoppyChats stores the following information locally in your browser or browser profile:

Local library: saved chats and selections are stored on your device, including through browser storage such as
chrome.storage.localand extension IndexedDB storage. - Local library metadata: titles, source page URLs, timestamps, folder IDs, and file/body-size metadata may be stored locally so your saved library can be displayed and organized.
- Conversion bodies: saved conversation HTML and Markdown may be stored locally in IndexedDB or other local extension storage.
- Preferences and subscription state: settings such as button position, filename templates, export preferences, usage status, and subscription/license state may be stored locally and, where Chrome sync storage is used, may be synced by the browser provider according to your browser settings
- Usage counter: free-plan counters or similar usage limits may be stored locally and reset according to the product rules shown in the extension.
- Exported files: exported HTML, Markdown, TXT, DOCX, PDF, JSON, ZIP, or other supported files are saved to locations you choose or to your browser's default download location.
6. Export image handling
Some ChatGPT conversations include images or media references. When you ask KoppyChats to create an export, the extension may attempt to fetch images already referenced in the active conversation and convert them into local data URLs or local export assets so your exported file is more complete. This processing is for the export you request. KoppyChats is not designed to upload those images or exported conversation bodies to KoppyChats licensing servers.
7. What we do not collect from the extension
KoppyChats does not intentionally collect saved chat content through the license endpoint. KoppyChats does not sell saved chat content. KoppyChats does not use saved chat content for advertising. KoppyChats does not use saved chat content for model training.
The product may include website analytics, download tracking, license verification logs, and limited extension operational telemetry, but those systems are not intended to include the body of your saved conversations.
8. Subscription checks and device identifiers
When you activate, verify, or re-check subscription access in the extension, the extension may contact a KoppyChats license endpoint with information such as your license token/key, purchase email, subscription status, non-identifying device hash, browser/device label, extension version, app name, and related activation metadata.
Device hashes are used to help manage authorized devices, enforce device limits where applicable, troubleshoot access problems, and reduce abuse. Device hashes are not intended to identify you by name by themselves.
Where practical, KoppyChats stores license keys or license tokens as cryptographic hashes rather than raw keys. If raw keys are not stored, lost-license recovery may require issuing a replacement key or reactivation flow rather than resending the original key.
9. How we use information
KoppyChats uses information to:
- operate the Service;
- process subscription purchases and billing through Stripe;
- issue, activate, verify, and manage Pro subscription access;
- provide customer support;
- send transactional or support emails through Resend;
- host and maintain the website and backend systems through Hostinger or other infrastructure providers;
- secure the Service and prevent abuse, fraud, unauthorized access, and excessive license sharing;
- measure downloads, activation activity, and basic product adoption;
- improve product reliability and user-facing features;
- maintain business, accounting, tax, security, and legal records; and
- comply with applicable legal obligations.
10. How we share information
KoppyChats does not sell personal information. KoppyChats does not share saved chat content with advertisers. KoppyChats does not use saved chat content for cross-context behavioral advertising.
KoppyChats may share limited information with service providers that help operate the Service, including:
- Stripe, for checkout, subscriptions, billing, fraud prevention, refunds, disputes, and payment records;
- Resend, for transactional email, support email, license-related messages, and product communications you request or are eligible to receive;
- Hostinger, for website hosting, backend hosting, server operation, logs, and security;
- Chrome Web Store, for extension distribution and store-related functionality;
- professional advisers, such as accountants, lawyers, or security consultants, when needed; and
- other vendors added later, but only after reviewing their privacy impact and updating this policy where needed.
KoppyChats may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, property, and security of users, the Service, KoppyChats, or others.
11. Payments and Stripe
Payments are processed by Stripe or another third-party payment processor. KoppyChats does not store full credit card numbers on its servers. Payment processors may collect and process payment information under their own privacy policies and terms.
If you request a billing management link or support related to billing, KoppyChats may use your purchase email or Stripe customer reference to help provide a secure, time-limited billing link or resolve the request.
12. Cookies, website analytics, and tracking
The KoppyChats website may use cookies or similar technologies for login sessions, security, checkout, analytics, and product measurement. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling some cookies may affect login, checkout, billing, or admin functionality.
Google Analytics is not enabled at launch. If KoppyChats enables Google Analytics or another analytics provider later, the Privacy Policy should be updated before deployment. Analytics must not be placed inside exported/saved chat content and must not collect saved conversation bodies.
The browser extension may use locally bundled assets, such as icons, styles, fonts, and interface files. These local assets do not contact third-party CDNs simply to render the extension interface.
13. Data retention
KoppyChats retains information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the Service, provide subscription access, maintain security, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and maintain business records.
Default retention targets are:

14. Security
KoppyChats uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your license key, browser profile, device, downloaded files, exported files, and local backups secure. KoppyChats is not liable for unauthorized access, loss, or damage resulting from your failure to keep your information secure.
15. Your choices and privacy requests
You may contact KoppyChats to request access, correction, deletion, or other handling of your personal information, subject to verification and applicable legal exceptions. If you bought a subscription and lost access information, KoppyChats may use your purchase email to help recover or replace access.

16. Canada, California, EU, UK, and other privacy rights
If you are located in Canada, KoppyChats handles personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian private-sector privacy laws, including PIPEDA where applicable.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to know what information is collected, request access or deletion, correct inaccurate information, object to or restrict certain processing, request portability, or opt out of certain sharing or targeted advertising. KoppyChats does not knowingly sell personal information or use saved chat content for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To make a privacy request, contact privacy@koppychats.com. KoppyChats may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
17. Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure
KoppyChats uses information accessed by the extension only to provide or improve user-facing features such as saving, organizing, exporting, licensing, security, abuse prevention, and support. KoppyChats does not sell extension user data, use saved chat content for advertising, or transfer saved chat content to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve the user-facing Service, comply with law, prevent abuse, or protect security.
18. Children
The Service is not intended for children under 13, and KoppyChats does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact privacy@koppychats.com so KoppyChats can take appropriate action.
19. International users
If you use the Service from outside the country where KoppyChats servers or service providers are located, your information may be processed in other jurisdictions. Those jurisdictions may have data protection laws different from your location. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to KoppyChats servers and service providers in those jurisdictions.
20. Changes to this policy
KoppyChats may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date will reflect the latest version. Material changes may be communicated through the website, extension, email, or another reasonable method.
Your continued use of the Service after changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree to the new policy, you should stop using the Service and may contact KoppyChats to request deletion of your information as described above.
