Use this quick path to install KoppyChats, test your first export, save a conversation to your local library, choose the right backup format, and activate Pro when you are ready.
Plain-English summary: KoppyChats is designed to be local-first. Saved chats and exported files are intended to stay on your device unless you choose to share, upload, publish, or store them somewhere else.
Start by installing the extension, refreshing any open ChatGPT tabs, exporting a test conversation, saving one chat locally, and verifying Pro access only when you need paid features.
1. Download the extension
Start from the download page so KoppyChats can count the download click without collecting saved chat content.
2. Install, enable, and refresh
After installing the extension, make sure KoppyChats is enabled in your browser's extension manager.
If you already had ChatGPT open, refresh those tabs before testing save or export actions.
If you do not see the extension, open your browser's extensions page and confirm that KoppyChats is installed, enabled, and allowed to run on supported ChatGPT pages.
3. Open a supported ChatGPT conversation
Go to a supported ChatGPT conversation page, such as https://chatgpt.com/c/xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx.
KoppyChats reads the visible conversation page so it can perform actions you request, such as saving, exporting, creating downloadable files, or using right-click actions.
KoppyChats is not designed for general browsing surveillance.
4. Export a test conversation
Open the KoppyChats extension popup and choose an export action. You may also be able to use the right-click context menu or keyboard shortcut if those actions are enabled in your browser and build.
For your first test, start with HTML, Markdown, or TXT. These formats are usually faster and easier to verify before trying heavier formats such as DOCX, PDF, JSON, or ZIP/archive exports where available.
5. Save a conversation to your local library
Save one useful conversation, then open your local library or Open Chats screen to confirm that it was stored locally in your browser.
Saved chats are intended to stay on your device unless you choose to export, share, upload, publish, or store them somewhere else.
Export important chats as files if you need an extra backup outside the browser.
6. Choose the right export format
Use the format that matches your workflow:
- HTML: good for readable archives that preserve more conversation structure.
- Print-friendly HTML: good for printing or creating a cleaner browser-generated PDF.
- Markdown: good for notes, writing systems, documentation, and Markdown apps.
- TXT: good for simple plain-text backups.
- DOCX: good for editing in a word processor.
- PDF: good for fixed sharing, printing, or archiving.
- JSON: good for structured backups, portability, or advanced workflows.
- ZIP/archive: good when supported for batch exports or packaged backups.
7. Upgrade to Pro when you need more
KoppyChats Pro is subscription-based. Pro features are available while your subscription is active, paid, and successfully verified.
Depending on the current version, Pro may unlock expanded save and export workflows, folders or organization tools, selected-chat or selected-text tools, font options for supported exports, higher usage limits, batch/archive tools where available, and other Pro-only features shown inside the extension.

8. Activate or verify Pro access
After purchase, KoppyChats may verify Pro using your purchase email, subscription status, license key, access token, device activation, or another approved access method shown at checkout or in your confirmation email.
Enter the purchase email and access details exactly as provided.
If Pro does not show as active, use Verify or Re-check, refresh open ChatGPT tabs, and confirm that your subscription is active and payment succeeded.
9. If something does not work
If export, saving, or Pro verification does not work, start with the basics: refresh the ChatGPT tab, confirm you are on a supported conversation page, make sure the extension is enabled, and check that your browser has not blocked downloads.
For Pro issues, confirm the purchase email, subscription status, payment status, device limit, and extension version.
If your subscription was cancelled, refunded, disputed, charged back, or failed payment, Pro access may stop working after verification updates.
